La geoquímica orgánica en Venezuela: INTEVEP y la UCV

Resumen:

Este trabajo presenta el desarrollo de la Geoquímica Orgánica en Venezuela a través de las dos instituciones donde se iniciaron los estudios en esta área: el Instituto de Ciencias de la Tierra de la Facultad de Ciencias de la UCV y PDVSA-INTEVEP. Se inicia con la definición de la Geoquímica Orgánica y una breve reseña sobre su desarrollo a nivel mundial, hasta su reconocimiento como una disciplina científica, y sus inicios en Venezuela. Continúa con la formación de recursos humanos en el área, donde se menciona el desarrollo de la docencia en la UCV y su relación con la Gerencia de Ciencias de la Tierra de INTEVEP, junto con la contribución de ambas instituciones en la formación de personal de relevo. Posteriormente se presentan algunas contribuciones a través de presentaciones en congresos y publicaciones entre investigadores de ambas instituciones. Esta fructífera colaboración en docencia e investigación en Geoquímica Orgánica en Venezuela ha permitido que nuestro país sea reconocido en el área, con profesionales competentes para el desarrollo de la industria petrolera.

Abstract:

This work presents the development of the Organic Geochemistry in Venezuela, through the two institutions where studies in this area began: the Institute of Earth Science of the Faculty of Sciences of the UCV and PDVSA-INTEVEP. It begins with the definition of Organic Geochemistry and a brief overview of its development worldwide to its recognition as a scientific discipline and its beginnings in Venezuela. It continues with the training of human resources in the area, stating the development of teaching and its relationship to the Earth Sciences management INTEVEP, along with the contribution of both institutions in the formation of replacement personnel. Later it presents some contributions, such as presentations at conferences and publications of researchers from both institutions. This fruitful collaboration of teaching and research in Organic Geochemistry in Venezuela enable our country to be recognized in the area, with competent professionals that contribute to the development of oil industry.
