Estructura, funcionamiento, función, adaptación y diseño

Resumen:

Al distinguir entre sistemas artificiales y seres vivientes, se insiste en que la generación de diseño (estructura con función) en los vivientes requiere un mecanismo natural que lo produzca. Esto remite a la selección natural de Darwin en su versión actual, que es caracterizada sumariamente. Se dilucidan diferencias entre los conceptos reunidos en el título. Se enfatiza la capacidad de la teoría de selección natural para incorporar novedades conceptuales y nuevas áreas de descubrimiento, y así consolidar una teoría unificadora de la biología.

Abstract:

Distinguishing between artificial and living systems, we insist in that generating design (structure with function) in the living ones requires a natural mechanism able to produce it. This puts the focus in the current version of darwinian natural selection. We emphasize the ability of this theory to incorporate conceptual novelties and new areas of discovery within its scope, so providing a unifying theory to biology.
